What TFC Programming did you participate in? – Social Enterprise Consulting, Treks, Lunch & Learns, 2018-2019 Board – Education and Careers Chair
Why would you encourage others to get involved with the TFC?
I initially got involved with the TFC as a means to connect with a group of like-minded people who care deeply about social impact issues. I stayed involved because of the depth and richness of opportunities I was able to get involved in. From consulting with local Nashville organizations, to developing Lunch & Learn sessions for my peers focusing on social issues, I had the opportunity to make a real impact during my time at Owen. I had had a chance to get outside of the Owen “bubble” and meet amazing peers from all over Vanderbilt’s campus – that is reason enough to get involved with the TFC!
How did the TFC help prepare you for your current position
The biggest thing the TFC prepared me to do was confidently lead in any scenario. By giving me a voice and an opportunity to engage early in my MBA experience, I was able to take all of the theoretical ideas I was learning in class and immediately apply them. Whether working with cross-functional teams, navigating ambiguous client scenarios, or developing programming that was inclusive and impactful, I am better today at what I do (and in general) because of the experiences I had while involved with the TFC.
